The Association of Indian Forging Industry is comprised of about
60 forging manufacturers in India. About 75 percent of the forgings
produced in India are from members of the association. The Association
was formed in 1965 under the name and style of Association of Indian
Drop Forging & Stamping Industries (AIDFASI) now known as Association
of Indian Forging Industry - AIFI. The role of AIFI is to promote
and develop the Indian Forging Industry so as to meet the demands
and expectations of forging customers and end-users, domestically
and globally, by encouraging understanding between stake holders
in the forging industry and by disseminating technology.
The Association engages itself in activities such as regular
interaction with suppliers of raw materials, user industries and
studies on Forging Industries covering among others, technologies,
capacity, and so on. Collection and dissemination of data on Forging
and allied industries are also given due importance.
AIFI organizes technical and business seminars both at Regional
and National levels. The Association also maintains close contact
with International organizations of Forging Industry and interacts
with them regularly. AIFI had the distinction of playing host
to the 13th International Forging Congress in the year 1990. It
provided the Indian Forging Industry an opportunity to gain broad
understanding about the contemporary forging technology and the
futuristic development. Today Indian forging industry not only
meets domestic of forging almost fully but also is an important
exporter.
